'VOC Reduction – bring back the blue sky and clean air for our kids'
VOC(volatile organic compounds), which stands for “volatile organice compounds”, has different definitions by different agences. The US EPA defines VOC as any carbon compounds that can participate in the atmospheric photochemical reactions except CO, CO2, H2CO3, metal carbon compounds, and ammounium carbonate. The WHO defines the TVOC (Total VOC) as the organic compounds, whose melting point is below room temperature and boiling point is 50~260℃. Meanwhile, BASF Company holds the concept that the most convenient way to identify VOC is using the boiling point, thus, VOCs are the organic compounds, whose boiling point is not higher than 250℃.
PM 2.5-Current New Concern!
PM2.5 in China is connected with VOC emission. PM2.5 is the particles in the air, whose dynamic diameter is less than 2.5 micrometer。Compared with large particles, it is poisonous and can stay for more time in the air. With its smaller size, it can enter brochia, alveoli and blood, which may cause various kinds of serious diease. Most of VOCs in the air can rapidly generate the organic aerosol and cause the concentration of PM2.5 increasing quickly.
The industries, with directly and indirectly VOC and PM2.5 emission, include petrochemical engineering, organic chemistry, autobile making, coating, gas station, catering and indoor fitment.
